UNM V3VEE Development Environment

  • Compilation and storage/service of bootable images is generally done on apu, so that's the best place to do development
  • Use mercurial to get a copy of the development tree off of the main development source by running hg pull ssh:youraccount@newskysaw.cs.northwestern.eduhome/bridged/kitten, changing to the pulled directory, and running hg update.
  • Configure and build the resulting kernel /var/lib/tftpboot/kitten and modify the pxeboot config file as appropriate
  • Boot the resulting kernel on either Lenny or Carl, and monitor it using Grumble, an IP KVM.
  • Use Moe to power-cycle the machines as necessary.
