I'm working on Sensor Networks and mostly Spreadsheet Programming Interface. I am also working on the BosqueNet project.

Research Log

August 30, 2007

I am busy writing still. Currently I am working on describing the three applications from the user's perspective. The current draft chapter is a mess. I am also trying to come up with a proper time line of when I will done with all of this.

June 19, 2007

I have a basic outline done, but I think it needs to be heavily revised before I start any real writing. I have also broken down and decided to try and use JDEE with Emacs to get the rest of the Java development done. I didn't really want to learn Eclispe, but I am having too much trouble just using the JDK on the comand line.

I have finished rough versions of 2 of the 3 applications of SPI that I intend to write about in my thesis. I don't know if the third will be finished in the time, or if it needs to be completed at all. I am currently working on polish up the two applications, data presentation, and simple classification, and working on the outline of my thesis. Hopefully the outline will be complete shortly and I can start actually writing.

I finished CS500 and now I can focus on solely working up my thesis. Currently I am reorganizing SPI and the underlying simulation to be more coherent and easier to understand. Simplier, but much more robust, application goals have been set. Two of three applications should be finished soon and then a lot of discussion is needed to determine how the third will be designed.

I am also starting to do the actual writing. It is going to be a long couple of months.

Almost done with CS500 and now focusing on finish SPI to a level presentable in my thesis. There are a few things left to implement at this stage. The sensors need to run asynchronosly, kensho needs to be leveraged, plotting with gnuplot, etc.

Looks like I forgot to keep this up to date. Right now I am working on implementing the SPI working with simple sensor net simulation that is on top of James' data simulation.

Right now I want to finish up the some basic function of both local and group type. Work needs to be done on parsing conditional statements and evaluated them. I don't have a grammar to work from, so I am basically winging it with a few assumptions I think are reasonable. I'm using javacc which is an actual parser, so changing things up shouldn't be too much of a big deal.

Outlined white paper on SPI usage

Uhh... something...

Spring break happened and I'm sure some other stuff did too.

How the heck are 10 values stuck in 4, 16 bit words for pressure sensor on a MTS400? 10 bits each? Are they little or big endian? Who knows? I might have to dig up some documentation or just wait and get some values.

I mentioned before a machined called Moe was set up, I have no idea what I was talking about then. A machine called Gerbil is set up for using the sensors. Now a subversion repository needs to be made.

I haven't touch any of the Spreadsheet Programming Interface in a while. I need to get on that.

February 13, 2006

  • Finished data marshalling code

February 6, 2006

  • tool chain stuff
  • consoling James over the lost data.

January 30, 2006

  • Setting up the a machined called Moe for TinyOS development.
  • Working on the tool chain for BosqueNet

January 24, 2006

Right now I'm reading a bit about Ruby. It seems to be like Python, but its is strange in its own way too. I'm also learning about pivot tables, data pilot in open office terms, and fancy spread sheet functions. I'm a novice with spread sheets in general.
